Abstract A growing understanding of wear behavior various thermally sprayed ceramic–metallic matrix coatings has occurred over recent years. This resulted from the continuous evolution in spraying methods as well material feedstock, and corresponding new aspects field that have been thoroughly explored. paper aims to review developments tungsten carbide-based coatings, with specific emphasis on evaluating alternative binders, processing routes tribological coatings. comprehensive evaluation compositions binders for WC-based considering environmental concerns market requirements carried out. The properties performance potential alternatives cobalt a conventional binder these assessed. Moreover, different thermal spray reviewed, particularly highlighting role parameters, phase change feedstock characteristics high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) air fuel (HVAF) techniques. comparison is made between HVAF HVOF terms their under environments. Finally, scenarios removal conditions, also reviewed.

Effect of WC Concentration on Abrasive Wear Properties of the Thermally Sprayed WC -Ni Coatings
In this work the effects of WC concentration on abrasive wear behavior by thermally sprayed WC coating was evaluated using three body abrasive wear tester. A different combination of WC and NI coatings were deposited on steel substrates by flame spraying using powder with different WC concentrations (0 %, 12.5 %, 25 %, and 50 %). Flame torch was used for heating and coating of process. Microstr...
متن کاملEffect of Carbide Particle Size on the Microstructure, Mechanical properties, and Wear Behavior of HVOF-sprayed WC-17% Co Coatings
This study investigates the effect of carbide particle size on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and abrasive wear resistance of WC-17%Co HVOF-sprayed coatings. The characteristics of WC-1, WC-2, and WC-3 coatings with carbide sizes of 1 µm, 0.9 µm, and 0.5 µm, respectively, were also investigated. WC-1 coating experienced the maximum carbon loss of 42%, while WC-2 and WC-3 coatings un...
متن کاملSurface roughness characterization of thermally sprayed and precision machined WC–Co and Alloy-625 coatings
Surface roughness characterization of thermally sprayed and precision machined WC–Co and Alloy-625 coatings was carried out. The objectives were to demonstrate that such difficult-to-machine coating surfaces could be machined with commercial machines and tools, and to characterize the surface finish of the machined coatings. The coatings were obtained using two thermal spraying processes: arc s...
متن کاملTribological Behavior of WC-Co/NiCrAlY Coatings on Ti-6Al-4V
Ti6Al4V alloys are widely used in chemical plants, automobile, aerospace industries and medical applications (bone, dental) because of its high specific strength. But, it has poor wear resistance. In the present investigation, duplex coatings were employed to enhance the mechanical and tribological properties. WC-Co Ceramic coatings were deposited on Ti6Al4V substrate with different thicknesses...

Improvement of thermally sprayed coating properties by microstructure modification has been considered as a significant solution. Therefore, in this research the effect of dissolved oxygen content and post heat treatment on the formation and distribution of secondary phase particles, particularly in nano-scale in the coatings during spraying and after that were studied. Ni-5 wt% Al powders were...
